Each CICM member organization is eligible to enter any or all of the 20 categories in the 2008 Contest. Only one entry per category is permitted with one exception — each organization may choose to submit a second bonus entry in any one category for individuals (categories 1,2,3,6,7,8,15,16,17,18 or 19).
Entries in the contest must have been originally published online in conjunction with a student media Web site during the 2007 calendar year and be accessible via the Web at the time of judging. This contest is not open to class projects unless such projects are produced in conjunction with or subsequently published by a member college media organization.
Contest entries must have been produced by student journalists, either individually or in groups. The contest categories are:

3. Best video package
4. Best overall multimedia
5. Best use of data
6. Best use of mapping
7. Best interactive package
8. Best interactive graphic
9. Best overall design
10. Best online workflow
11. Best news delivery
12. Best use of social networking sites
13. Best community engagement
14. Best overall innovation
15. Best breaking news package
16. Best podcast
17. Best mashup
18. Best blog
19. Best widget/application
20. Best overall Web presence
