![]() The CICM digital cavalry is here for you.Whether you have an established program that needs a jumpstart for new ideas or you find yourself wondering how in the world to begin, sometimes it helps to bring in a specialist to offer suggestions, speak to a staff, conduct training, or discuss management issues related to new media. The CICM has organized a group of these specialists who will travel to your campus and help you where you need it most. Assessment, analysis and suggestions will be provided in a written summary provided in writing within ten working days of the site visit and will address issues such as: hardware and software configurations; Web-centric work flow analysis; online position descriptions and duties; minimum Web expectations for all student journalists; developing commonly accepted mission statement for a Web-centric newsroom; highlights of current practices, examples of best practices; changing newsroom culture; use of space and design of newsroom; professional trends profiles; immediate steps to be taken; and ad sales. In addition to a general assessment consultation, CICM also offers a limited number of on-site, hands-on technology workshop where students and advisers may get expert instruction in areas such as: using what you have; College Publisher tools; Google docs, photos, video, etc.; SoundSlides; multimedia production; video; audio; online maps; mashups; and data combing. The cost for on-site consulting or workshops includes travel expenses (airfare or mileage, lodging, meals) and a daily rate for each consultant utilized. Exact amounts vary depending upon the location of the campus, the number of consultants requested, and the number of days utilized. Typically, consulting and workshops can be conducted in 1-3 days, depending upon the client’s needs.
