Student examples coming soon.

November 30, 2006 in showcase

All is not gloom and doom. I like to show off examples of students trying out new things. To that end, over the next week, I’ll be highlighting some work by students from around the country that have been e-mailed to me by members of College Media Advisers and other interested parties. If you are a student or know of a student who’s done some multimedia work this semester, e-mail me a link and a description, and I’ll put something up on the site: scmurley -at- gmail.com.

DI uses internet to update breaking news

October 24, 2006 in showcase

We’ve knocked the Daily Illini previously for their blogging policy, and their decision to stop writing staff editorials for a two-week period earlier this fall. But today, we have to give them props for using their Internet site to update a breaking story about a student dying on campus: UI student found dead outside Campbell Hall.

I can’t think of a better way to use a student media website than to update a developing story.
