About the CICM

The Center for Innovation in College Media is a non-profit think-tank that was created to help college student media adapt and flourish in the new media environment. In 2010, CICM was folded into College Media Association, Inc. #

We hope to achieve our mission by a number of efforts, including: #

  • National hands-on training workshops and conferences.
  • Regional hands-on training workshops.
  • Open-Source technology development and testing.
  • Open-source research about college media and technology.
  • Showcasing examples of innovative student work on the web site.
  • Track emerging trends in news media that will impact college media organizations.
  • Partnering with other organizations to explore ways to improve the transition to new media skills for student journalists.

Innovation in College Media, the weblog of the non-profit Center for Innovation in College Media, is a collaborative effort of a few dedicated individuals. The people who write, gather information, and contribute have done so out of a sincere desire to advance the training of student journalists through college media. #

He advises their online student news outlet – dennews.com and teach classes. He is a doctoral student at the University of South Carolina, and the former webmaster for College Media Advisers, Inc.
