A Flash-based "Best of" feature from Cal Poly. An idea of how to make that "Best of…" section spicier for the web.

The one-week program will take place at the campus of the University of Nevada/Reno from May 31 to June 6, 2009. The 15 participating students will be divided into teams to develop real-world prototypes for the newspaper industry. They will interact with digital news executives, advertising and marketing directors, educators and more over the course of the week.

We recently complied a list of student media in the Twittersphere. This is an analysis of how those outlets are using Twitter and what we can learn from those who are doing it right.
For simplicity, I tried to group all variations of Twitter use into five basic categories.
The above chart is the breakdown of 50 student media outlets on Twitter (via the CICM list). It excludes Twitter accounts that have made very few updates or haven’t updated in months. Below are the categorizations for reference:

Chat Guidance:
- Because we are expecting many participants, this chat is moderated.
- Please be courteous, positive and constructive in your comments.
- Please try to avoid one-word comments like “yes” or “I agree” – they will clutter the chat and we will not approve them.
- The future of print will be discussed if only it is relevant to a topic.
- Use your name and affix -S for student, -E for educator and -P for professional after your chat name. (ie John Wordsworth-S, Dr. Mary Smith-E).
- If you are responding to another commenter, please make it clear with whom you are speaking.
