Three years? Really?!?
Three years ago last month, we started this endeavor at a site called Reinventing College Media. I remember uttering those famous last words to Chris Carroll and Ralph Braseth - "I'll create the blog, but you'll have to provide the content."
Since then, I've written over 1,100 blog posts for this site. Sigh.
It's been a heckuva ride. I've met some great advisers, students, and journalists, got to participate in the wider discussion of what's happening in journalism, and built a pretty decent readership here. According to our statcounter stats, over 103,000 unique visitors have viewed over 138,000 pages during the time we've been keeping track on this blog (we had a fair amount at RCM, but I'm not adding numbers tonight).
Without this blog, I wouldn't have the job I have today. Literally. And I thank you all for following us through the past three years of experimentation.
I'm always looking for ways to improve the content here. I've tried over the past three years to get some additional authors, with mixed success. They are infrequent contributors. Their contributions are greatly appreciated, and deserving of the wide readership they sometimes garner. But none has been able to keep up the pace.
If you have suggestions for improvements, drop them in the comments, and here's looking to the future, and more years of blogging about college media and the changing face of journalism.
Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be dredging up some of the content from the past, like a hairball, because some people missed the stuff the first time we wrote it. Those who've been here forever, hope you don't mind the trip down memory lane.
Cheers.
