UPDATE: More coverage from Doug Fisher and Jackie Alexander (a former USC Gamecock editor), who has some not-too-kind words.
Late this afternoon, I was alerted by Will Sommer, whose been blogging at Georgetown’s Voice this summer, that the Campus Daily Guide site was now password protected. Sure enough, I went to www.campusdailyguide.com and discovered this screen:

If you hit cancel, it’s a “401 error”:
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.
Additionally, a 401 Authorization Required error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Earlier today, the domain was pointing to the The Ohio State University Campus Daily Guide (osu.campusdailyguide.com).
Curious. I’m still awaiting word from Rusty Lewis at CMN responding to my e-mailed questions.
