Daily Pennsylvanian’s student government election guide

 candidates

Sometimes disagreement can highlight something good. Case in point, Eric Jacobs points to the Daily Pennsylvanian’s 2008 Student Elections Candidate Guide. Not only does the guide have a photo of each candidate, but it includes a video statement from some candidates, and a list of endorsements. Obviously a huge project, but something worth considering for your student media. If you’re unsure how to put such a project into your CMS, you could build a static page with links to a youtube channel with all the endorsement videos included. Or use a weblog to create a post for each candidate and embed the video into the weblog post.

This also reminded me of a Flash interactive created by the Daily Tar Heel for their student government elections last year (see  previous coverage).

This is a great example of an informational and comprehensive special section. Ours had some mugshots and platforms, but it wasn’t laid out nearly as well. bravo.
