Witt “covering it live” at WeMedia 2008
February 27th, 2008 by BryanCheck out this post by Len Witt at WeMedia. He’s liveblogging with a service called Cover It Live. It looks like something that has potential when you’re blogging from an event. Here’s an example liveblog I just set up. Respond in the blog window and let me know what you think.

Really cool! My staff will love it! We are covering a state SGA rally in a few weeks. I’ll see if the staff is willing to try it there.

This is pretty cool. I wish that you could update it via IM or phone … and I’ve yet to find a tool that’d let multiple collaborators work on it at once (kinda like Google Docs). Can’t resize either, so putting it in a column is out of the question.
Do you know of any alternatives?

Bryan. Thanks for putting the software through its paces. Although some people view our software as being important for the really big events, we firmly believe it empowers the microniche bloggers with a very powerful tool to cover events relevant to their readers. For example, Salt Lake City Tribune used it yesterday to cover all of the prep school basketball games with nice, small but engaged audiences. We think as colleges and high schools discover the software, it will gain acceptance quickly.
@ Whitney: think we saw you test it out as well. thanks for that. two quick things. the Viewer Window can be resized if you need to by changing the width/height numbers in the embed code. we’d like to make an even smaller version but this would limit multimedia usage. we’ll figure it out. second, we are launching our ‘panel discussion’ feature in just under two week that will allow for multiple writers during one live blog. this can be done today by sharing usernames/passwords but the new feature will make it even better. last, on IM/phone/mobile….you’re right…give us a bit of time on that one.
