Update: Pennelli departure announcement
October 11, 2007 in industry news
I heard back from both Chris Gillon and Paul Pennelli last week about Paul’s departure from CP, but just got too swamped to blog about it. MTVu has now issued an announcement about Paul’s departure from College Publisher. Read the Press Release below the fold. #
COLLEGE MEDIA NETWORK ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE CHANGE #
New York, NY – October 11, 2007 – College Media Network announced today that Paul Pennelli, director of affiliate relations, has left to pursue other opportunities. After several years of outstanding service in college media, Paul has been presented with a unique opportunity to relocate to the San Francisco Bay area and join the early-stage high tech startup, ReputationDefender, Inc. With Paul’s departure, Carlo DiMarco, Vice President of University Relations, mtvU and the College Media Network, will be taking on additional responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Network and working even more closely with affiliates coast-to-coast.  The College Media Network (CMN) has begun an intensive search for a new director to fill Paul’s role and encourages interested parties to contact Carlo. #
Addressing his departure, Paul commented, “It’s been an honor to work with the great people in student media for so many years, but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has presented itself, and I’d be remiss to let it pass by. However, I leave College Publisher and the College Media Network in great hands, and with Carlo’s expert stewardship, I couldn’t be more confident that the business, Network and its affiliates will continue to thrive.†#
Carlo DiMarco has a long, successful track record in university relations, and has interfaced with a wide variety of departments at both large and small colleges and universities daily for the past 15 years. He has overseen mtvU’s affiliate relations program since the channel’s inception in January 2004 – and for 11 years prior to that, when the channel was still known as the College Television Network. Carlo has a deep understanding of the collegiate spectrum, strong relationships with several hundred schools nationwide and has been chiefly responsible for mtvU’s distribution growth from just 5.2 million students three and a half years ago, to more than 7.5 million today. He has also overseen the planned redesign of College Publisher’s technological offerings including the upcoming rollout of the next generation of College Publisher and a fully redesigned ad management system. #
Chris Gillon, a long time and key contact for College Media Network affiliates, as well as the rest of the core CMN team are all stepping up during the search for a new director, too. #
That's too bad. Paul was always around to help or point me in the right direction when I was the online editor at the DEN.
Best of luck, Paul.
