UPDATE: Paul Pennelli responds to our e-mail to explain the process behind the judging: “Our staff have always judged the awards based upon the criteria lined up for each category. We only judge submissions that were made by newspapers (people can nominate their own publication or another school’s publication), so we’re slightly limited in that regard. We can’t go off and award a newspaper that has not thrown its hat in the ring, for instance.” He also said the awards are open to any college publication, not just CP partners.
We try to spotlight web sites that have won awards or reached finalist status. About a week ago, College Publisher posted the winners of their 2007 Awards of Excellence on their web site. A couple of curiosities about the winners - at least one is not a college publisher partner - the IDSnews - and there are no links on the announcement to any of the winning sites.
Regardless, below the fold are some screenshots of the award-winning news sites with links to each one’s home page. No data was available about who did the judging for this contest (UPDATE: Or whether the news sites had to submit entries or were chosen by the judges - I’m e-mailing CP to find out more info - ed.), but congrats to those who won.
