Online ads up, print down

Newspaper publishers continue to see sizable increases in online ad revenues according to The Newspaper Association of America.

The good news: Advertising for newspaper Web sites increased by 23 percent to $638 million in the third quarter versus the same period a year ago.

The not so good news: Spending for print ads in newspapers down 2.6 percent from the same period a year ago.

The increase in online growth was not enough to make up for the losses in print, but publishers see a silver lining especially in real estate ads. The full story.
