Angela Grant points out a new project by the San Antonio Express-News: 60 seconds - a monthly (?) series of short profiles of people around the community. A graphic for the project is situated on the front page of the mySanAntonio.com web site.
I like the idea and think it’s easily transferrable to a college web site. It should take a relatively short amount of time to produce, and there are hundreds of people to profile on most campuses. Also, it’s a great way to get reporters thinking about using audio and video without making the process into a huge project (like an assignment in a web journalism or advanced reporting class).
The time frame seems a little odd. Once a month doesn’t seem like it’s often enough to really implant the idea in viewers’ minds. That span also makes it likely that it’ll slip to the back of producers’ and editors’ minds as well.
