Podcast: Photojournalist Mark M. Hancock interview

January 9, 2007 in industry news

Mark M. Hancock is a photojournalist with the Beaumont Enterprise, a 70,000-circulation Hearst daily newspaper. He runs the photojournalism weblog, which features his photographs and some timely advice for photojournalism students, and also NewsEagles, a site promoting his photography services. You might also be interested in an artistic side project he’s working on: Photo mosaics. It’s a fascinating twist on the format. #

Over the holidays, I got to sit down with Hancock for an interview (my family lives in Beaumont). The interview is about 20 minutes long, but worth a listen. During the interview, Hancock talks about the future of photojournalism, why he writes the weblog, and how video is affecting the profession. #

The in-screen podcast player is apparently compressing the file so much that I sound like a chipmunk, so you’ll have to download the mp3 to listen. Sorry. #
