Curley’s bullet points

Lucas Grindley points to a Rob Curley interview with an Italian news organization. Curley’s prescriptions for newspapers are something you should look at. It’s nothing really “new,” but it’s a direction you should be exploring through the lens of college media. Some of these are natural strengths for college news orgs - hyperlocal content, for instance. Others will require some additional work. Grindley does us the favor of providing the executive summary:

  • Own breaking news
  • Hyper-local content
  • Embrace databases
  • Multimedia
  • Evergreen content
  • Make sure your content can work on any device imaginable
  • Make sure your newspaper isn’t a monologue, but a dialogue with you audience
