New York CMA session track

nyc

During the CMA convention in New York, we assisted in planning a full day of sessions focused on online/digital media. The cool part of this is that these sessions are open to anyone who’s attending. You can sit through all day or pick and choose - a la carte. And we’ve got a great lineup of speakers. We’ll also have a table set up on Thursday for advisers or students to come by and chat with me and the other CICM folks about whatever new media questions or topics they might want to get some feedback on.

Here are some of the details about the Friday sessions. Click the logo above to find out more details about the CMA Convention. Registration is now online.

(note: If you’re looking for intensive, hands-on training, we will be hosting a workshop in Nashville March 29-31. Details will be announced in the next couple of weeks.)

New Media, The Future is Now
The average journalism student spends 2,000 hours in classrooms to earn a college degree. Give us nine hours and we’ll help you reimagine your future.

The Center for Innovation in College Media has joined forces with College Media Advisers to offer a one-day track of sessions focused exclusively on integrating new media into traditional college media programs. What does new media have to do with your career in journalism? In one word: Everything. These sessions will provide a comprehensive overview of the current practices in commercial media and offer direction on how you can implement these strategies at your campus. This special program will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 16 in the Roosevelt Hotel’s Ballroom. The sessions are open to all convention attendees with no pre-registration required.

Newspapers and journalists need to find their place within new media - capture their content digitally and continue to capitalize and create revenue. I have found a company - www.9thx.com that is revolutionizing the digital media marketplace.
The 9thXchange marketplace is the newest way to bring together buyers and sellers of digital content. The service dramatically reduces content piracy by offering the seller lifetime royalties — even on exchanges between consumers. Moreover, the service accommodates all technology platforms, file types and creators. I read about The 9thxchange in Crains Detroit recently.
