Sometimes the best information you find isn’t in a weblog post, or even a media story, but in the comments. For instance, this from Howard Owens, in response to a blog post by Mindy McAdams:
One other note — I’m a hiring manager in media … students should know … having a blog is big bonus points in getting an interview with me. I wish I could say the same for other hiring managers, but eventually, maybe that will be true. I want to find people who are fully engaged in the digital life.
As the digital transition of traditional media continues, the trend in hiring should become more pronounced. Students who show through their experience (on resumes) that they are engaged with digital media will have better opportunities (and better pay?).
