On the way to STL

I’m halfway to St. Louis - driving. I’ll be arriving tomorrow, and it’s a busy schedule, so I won’t likely be following much of what’s going on outside the convention. But I do plan to collect some audio interviews along the way. I’m thinking of the question: “what are you doing on your campus with new media?” as a sort of general “man on the street” type question to throw to advisers.

Tomorrow night, I’m interviewing one of the founders of Campus Reader, and I’m also going to be talking to Eric Eldon and Phil Kast of Unimedia about their new product. There’s an interesting story behind their transition from non-profit to for-profit business that I hope to get a chance to explore as well. I hope to have some screenshots to show soon.

If you’re in St. Louis for the convention, look me up. I’ll be running around making sure the computers work, and trying to catch a session here and there.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited about this convention. I hope it will be a turning point of sorts for college media.

Also, be on the lookout for a new podcast soon about a couple of convergence media textbooks that are on the market. I am editing audio from the South Carolina convergence conference, and I’ll let you know when it’s available.
