14,000 and gaining

Sometime this afternoon, we passed 14,000 visits on the Sitemeter counter at the bottom of the page. I’d like to thank everyone who’s visited in the past 11 months. The 14,000th visitor was someone from Connecticut (”see details here”:http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s22collegemedia&v=1&r=9&vlr=8&pg=1&d=928)

According to Sitemeter, we are currently averaging “about 76 visits per day”:http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=stats&s=s22collegemedia&r=0, which is a pretty good number for a site that runs on volunteer effort and serves a narrowly focused audience. The readership is actually increasing these days after dipping during the summer.

The Sitemeter was the first stat tracker we installed on the weblog, so the stats are a little more accurate than the StatCounter, which was installed in May and seems to come up with slightly higher numbers per day than Sitemeter. According to the StatCounter, we’ve had 10,900 visitors since May of this year.

If you click on either of the counters at the bottom of the page, you can see the detailed traffic statistics. It’s a good idea to be transparent about this type of information. It’s a practice I picked up from weblogs, and something we could all adopt.

Again, thanks to everyone who’s come by, read or commented.
